Front Desk Volunteer
Front Desk volunteers are critical to welcoming our guests to our center and scheduling their activities for the day. Our Front Desk volunteers learn how to use our case management software, an essential part of the check-in and scheduling process. It also enables us to track improvements in our guests’ lives.
Shifts:
Monday-Thursday 7:50 AM – 11:30 AM and 11:30 AM – 3:10 PM
Friday 7:50 AM – 12:10 PM
Building B Host
The Building B Host welcomes our guests as they come into our Founder’s Center. Host volunteers manage shower schedules, check in guests for their meals, and assist in preparing the main room during transitions from one activity to the next.
Shifts:
Monday-Thursday 7:50 AM – 11:30 AM and 11:30 AM- 3:10 PM
Friday 7:50 AM – 12:10 PM
Food Preparation and Service
Cooking meals has been a core element of our service and can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience. Kitchen volunteers help create meals for our Day Center and the Casa de Noche Buena shelter in Seaside that supports women and families. Our kitchen volunteers prepare simple-to-follow recipes, serve meals, and assist in kitchen clean-up.
Shifts:
Breakfast: Monday-Friday 7:15 AM – 10:00 AM
Lunch: Monday-Friday 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Shelter Prep: Monday- Thursday 12:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Garden Volunteer
Do you have a green thumb? Our gardening volunteers help to maintain our beautiful garden and clean the grounds to create a welcoming and inviting environment for our guests. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just starting out, we welcome all levels of expertise and are excited to have you on our team.
Shifts:
Friday 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Clothes Closet Stylists and Organizers
Our Clothes Closet stylist volunteers provide personal assistance to GFW guests who need clothing and personal care items by helping them select needed items in their size and style preference. Volunteers are involved in every aspect of the Clothes Closet, including organizing donations received, maintaining order in the Clothes Closet and storage areas, and organizing and stocking clothing and personal care items for display.
Shifts:
Monday – Thursday 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Special Projects and Activity Facilitator
Are you an artist, or do you have special skills you’d like to share? Our day center is looking for creative volunteers to help enhance the lives of our guests by hosting workshops, teaching classes, or leading group activities that inspire and engage. Your skills and talents can make a meaningful impact on the lives of the people we serve.
We are currently recruiting volunteers with artistic talents such as painting, drawing, dance, storytelling, photography, etc. If you have one-on-one services you would like to provide, such as massages, haircuts, or manicures, please let us know. Shifts and time commitments are flexible!
